While Cam Newton normally provides entertainment on the football field, Cam provided approximately 900 children with delicious food, dancing, and all around fun at the fourth annual Cam’s Thanksgiving Jam on November 21, 2016.  The event was held at The Fillmore Charlotte.  Hosted by the Cam Newton Foundation and Food Lion Feeds, the event gave children Thanksgiving memories that they will never forget.

The children arrived dancing, as they were greeted by a DJ playing some of the most popular songs. The host of the event, Yasmin Young, then directed the children to write down things they were most thankful for. After Cam was introduced, the children were served a traditional Thanksgiving meal consisting of turkey, mac and cheese, potatoes, green bean casserole, and cookies. At the end of the night, the children received bags of food to take home so they could share a Thanksgiving meal with their families.

Cam was on hand during the entirety of the event, not only serving food, but serving some serious smiles and laughs for the children. Cam held dancing contests, had the entire place participate in the mannequin challenge, and hosted an entertaining contest of musical chairs! There was not a dull moment, as every inch of the Fillmore contained deafening sounds of laughter and excitement.

Between the food and entertainment, the children had the opportunity to get their face painted, meet and take pictures with Sir Purr, and get balloons in all shapes and sizes.

After every child’s stomach was full and they were all danced out, the night came to a close. Cam sent the children home with smiles on their faces, and countless memories to share with their family and friends. The Cam Newton Foundation cannot wait to see what next year’s event has in store.

BIG THANKS to Food Lion Feeds, The Fillmore Charlotte and Second Harvest Food Bank for their generous contributions!
