For the fifth year in a row, Santa Cam’s Surprise Sleigh made stops throughout the Queen City. On December 11, Santa Cam, along with friends, family and volunteers, surprised six groups by spreading holiday cheer and joy.  Conn’s Home Plus and Academy Sports were valued partners of the event.

Cam and the Sleigh, consisting of seven red and white Chevrolet SUVS, made the first stop of the day at Shamrock Gardens Elementary School. At the school, Cam rode in on his bike and surprised all 180 1st and 2nd graders with bikes, helmets and locks of their own, courtesy of Academy Sports.  Cam also participated in a full-school assembly to reward the students for their tremendous growth in reading and writing.

After visiting Shamrock Gardens Elementary School, Santa Cam’s Surprise Sleigh made its way to Second Harvest Food Bank for a celebration party! Cam was welcomed at his second stop by 125 4th and 5th graders from Greeleyville, SC who were already having a great time – dancing, playing games, eating pizza and more. Although they traveled from four hours away, the kids had no idea they were going to meet Cam Newton. The entire group was given an Under Armour backpack and Winter hat.  Before the Sleigh left the party, Cam made sure to leave behind a $10,000 Conn’s Home Plus gift card donation to Second Harvest Food Bank.  The donation will be used to purchase appliances, fridges, freezers, stoves, etc. for the hundreds of agencies served by SHFB.

Santa Cam’s Surprise Sleigh was on the move again….this time visiting the Urban Ministry Center. Cam spent time visiting and passing out gift bags for hundreds of neighbors before presenting the Urban Ministry Center a cash donation of $15,000 and a $5,000 Conn’s Home Plus gift card.  Cam also toured the facility and learned about their purpose and mission.

The next stop for the Sleigh was to the Bethlehem Center. Forty-five kids were having a “normal day” until Cam and his elves surprised them with a $15,000 cash donation to be used to renovate their computer and technology center! The funds will be used to purchase laptops, computers, printers, softward and other technology needs.  A few new laptops were on-hand to get the fun started.

The final stop of the Sleigh was to the Camino Community Center.  At Camino, over 100 families were wrapping presents and participating in a festive party.  Cam surprised the group by helping lead a Zumba class, as well as giving a $15,000 cash donation and $5,000 Conn’s Home Plus gift card.  The group was very eager to meet and get autographs from Cam.

A special thanks to Conn’s Home Plus, Academy Sports, Second Harvest Food Bank and City Chevrolet for helping to make our fifth annual Santa Cam a huge success!
