The event was held at the U.S. National Whitewater Center in Charlotte. "Making it Better" is a CMS student empowerment initiative. Its mission is to encourage students, staff and community leaders to unite and take a stand to promote positive climates in schools and communities.
Oct. 22 was the second "Making It Better: Engage Summit." At the Summit, 250 10th and 11th graders came together with community leaders and took a lead role in building school support to stop bullying, harassment and violence with a goal of creating a safe and caring environment for all. Mr. Newton spoke to the students and community leaders about teamwork, respect, leadership and the mantra that "Every 1 Matters."
